I’ve been a journalist for 20 years, and been a senior editor at The Financial Times, The Guardian and Prospect magazine, specialising in longform. I’ve also written for The New Yorker, The New York Times, Guardian Long Read, FT Magazine and many other places.

I have a deep background in audio. I’ve exec produced and story edited multi-part series for the BBC and Sony, fronted my own documentaries, and consulted on development and scripting for independent podcast studios.

As an author, my most recent book is the award-winning travelogue Worlds Elsewhere: Journeys Around Shakespeare's Globe – an exploration of Shakespeare’s worldwide impact, from Bollywood film studios to the American Wild West.

I also love teaching and live events. I’ve been an honorary fellow at Birkbeck, University of London, delivered international education projects with the British Council, and interviewed major cultural figures on stage.
